Promotions and Coupon Policy

Last updated: March 09, 2026

This policy describes how promotional discounts, coupons, and marketing campaigns operate on the Experts platform. It clarifies the different types of promotions that may be used by the platform, instructors, and affiliates, and explains how discounts interact with revenue calculations and affiliate commissions.

1. Purpose of Promotions

Promotions and coupons are marketing tools used to increase course visibility, encourage enrollment, and support marketing campaigns. Promotions may be issued by the platform, instructors, or affiliates, depending on the campaign structure.

2. Types of Promotions

The Experts platform supports several types of promotional mechanisms. Each type has a different purpose and may affect revenue distribution differently.

2.1 Platform-Issued Coupons

Platform-issued coupons are created and managed by the platform for marketing campaigns such as seasonal promotions, advertising campaigns, or platform-wide discounts.

Examples include:

  • Seasonal promotions
  • Launch campaigns
  • Marketing events

Discounts provided through platform-issued coupons are typically funded by the platform unless otherwise specified in a promotional agreement.

2.2 Instructor-Issued Coupons

Instructors may create promotional coupons for their own courses or events. These coupons are commonly used for marketing to personal audiences such as email subscribers, social media followers, or professional communities.

Discounts created through instructor-issued coupons are typically funded by the instructor's share of the revenue.

2.3 Affiliate Referral Links

Affiliates may promote courses using referral links that track the source of traffic and attribute purchases to the affiliate.

Referral links do not necessarily provide a discount to the customer. They primarily enable commission tracking for affiliate marketing.

2.4 Affiliate Coupon Codes

In some cases, affiliates may be provided with promotional coupon codes associated with their referral campaigns. These coupons may provide a discount to students while also enabling affiliate commission tracking.

When affiliate coupons are used, both the promotional discount and the affiliate commission may apply to the transaction.

3. Discount Application

When a coupon or promotional discount is applied during checkout, the final purchase price paid by the customer becomes the transaction value used in revenue calculations.

Revenue sharing between the platform and the instructor is calculated based on the discounted transaction amount rather than the original list price.

4. Discount Funding

The party responsible for funding a discount depends on the type of promotion used.

  • Platform promotions are typically funded by the platform.
  • Instructor promotions are typically funded by the instructor.
  • Affiliate-related discounts may be funded by the instructor, the platform, or a combination depending on campaign settings.

5. Affiliate Commission Interaction

Affiliate commissions may apply to transactions generated through affiliate referral links or affiliate-specific coupons.

The commission percentage applied to a transaction is determined by the platform's affiliate commission system and the course-level commission cap configured by the instructor.

The commission used for a transaction is the lower of the affiliate's approved commission rate and the maximum commission percentage defined for the course or event.

6. Promotional Abuse Prevention

The platform reserves the right to monitor promotional activity to prevent abuse or misuse of coupons, referral systems, or affiliate tracking mechanisms.

Prohibited behavior may include:

  • Unauthorized distribution of restricted coupons
  • Manipulation of referral tracking systems
  • Fraudulent or artificial transactions
  • Misleading marketing practices

Violations may result in coupon deactivation, commission cancellation, or account suspension.

7. Changes to Promotional Policies

The platform reserves the right to modify promotional rules, coupon systems, or discount policies in order to maintain fair usage, marketing effectiveness, and platform sustainability.

Continued use of promotional tools on the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated policies.
